Rector murder: two more priests undergo narco test

The body of the 64-year priest was found inside the seminary building on the morning of April 1 2013 last year.

Bangalore:

The police in Karnataka have subjected two more priests of Bangalore's St. Joseph Pontifical seminary to narcoanalysis (truth serum) test last week in connection with the murder of its rector 11 months ago.

The results on the test conducted on Fr Sebastian Perianna and Fr Lourdes are awaited police said.

The tests are the latest development in investigation on the murder Fr K J Thomas. The body of the 64-year priest was found inside the seminary building on the morning of April 1 2013 last year,

Police had subjected seminary procurator Fr Patrick Xavier, a key suspect, to the narco test last August.

Sources said the courts did not grant permission to conduct tests on two other priests due to their age.

Police said there were five priests in the seminary the night Fr Thomas was murdered, contrary to initial reports that only Fr Patrick Xavier was present.

They had last year subjected Fr Xavier and two cooks — Raja and Reddy — to the truth serum test without finding any leads.

Last year, the Bangalore police had advised seminary authorities and the Archbishop in Bangalore to separate the priests who were present at the seminary.
